I've just come up with a (rudimentary at best) synopsis of my NaNo novel, so I'm posting it below. Mostly as a reminder to myself that this project is real and that I shouldn't forget about it!

Nate Walker hates everything. His school (heinous), his classmates (juvenile), his stepmother (shallow), and his current existence (boring). Everything is easy for Nate except for social interaction, so he escapes into the fantasy worlds of video games, accompanied by his sole friend, captain of the A/V squad and mathlete extraordinaire.
In an attempt to impress his overbearing boss, Nate's father brings him to work to meet said boss, intending to win points from Nate's fanboy reaction to the monster media mogul. Sensing a like-minded spark of nerd in Nate, the boss invites him to participate in a new beta program to test the company's venture into gaming. It's a ground-breaking and platform-changing endeavor, one that Nate quickly realizes is rooted in something slightly more than sleek graphics and slightly-too-lifelike AI characters.
Virtuality is the illegitimate spawn of the "The Big Bang Theory" and "Tron," with a little bit of recessive "Game of Thrones" thrown in for good measure.
And yes, that's weird.
